LORD FARQUAAD

I thought that spending more time in Island Park would amount to choosing between playing outside or chasing Mary Kay around the cabin. Then I realized that she does not want to be caught. I can still watch Fox News, but when they report on the antics of Pelosi and Schumer, I start yelling at the television and have to leave the room. Sometimes I just go into the bathroom, close the door, and yell at the mirror. I find myself saying things that only our uber-conservative friends from California, Scott and Margaret, were saying a few years ago. At that time, Margaret was doing most of the speaking, and even though they were close friends, we thought they were a pair of wing nuts—now, as I look into the mirror and hear what I am saying, I realize that I have become Margaret.

If you were hoping to read something sensitive and politically correct, please put this paper down and slowly back away. The media and deep state hoped for a recession and crisis that they could manipulate. They tried every day for the past two years and finally got their wish. This is a dream come true for Rahm Emanuel, who said, “Never allow a crisis to go to waste.” As the evening news whipped everyone watching into a sense of needing to stock up, the fear of running out of toilet paper became more urgent than the fear of COVID19, and a toilet paper calamity was born.

What did we do before toilet paper? Somehow we survived. Although the history of toilet paper is interesting, it remains an embarrassing topic for those who cannot accept the human condition. Hint: Indoor plumbing did not like catalogue pages, so a flushable product was invented. Imagine if suddenly there was no more toilet paper. It would not take long for those of us with indoor plumbing to come up with some practical solutions. The point is that there is widespread panic over something that is really not even related to COVID19. Can you imagine reading an obituary that says, “She died from a lack of toilet tissue"?

We have been pretending that we can hide from this virus, when, in fact we will all be susceptible until we either get COVID 19 or be vaccinated into an immune state. The two goals of flattening the curve and protecting the vulnerable, seems politically correct and appears to be the moral high ground. How long do we continue decimating the world’s economy when that approach may actually take a greater toll on humanity than COVID19? In a few days or weeks when we all come out of hibernation, will we be any more protected from COVID 19 than before we went into isolation? How about the suggestion that those who are not vulnerable resume living and go back to work and school? We could isolate and protect only those who are at high risk and less likely to be working, and let herd-immunity solve the problem. We could do this immediately and reduce the trillion dollar bailout and prevent Pelosi and Schumer from trying to loot the treasury and pile on amendments that would expand the deep state government during this crisis.

The media is already portraying Boris Johnson as Lord Farquaad from Shrek, when he said, “Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.” No politician in his right mind wants to appear to be Lord Farquaad, throwing vulnerable patients over the cliff. Instead, they plan to increase the national debt, torpedo the economy and tell the rest of us to hide from COVID19 and wash our hands. Good Grief!

I am so worked up that I am going into the bathroom and see what Margaret has to say about all of this.
